Whisper Of The Soul - Cancer As A Turning Point - 2

Disease can be our spiritual flat tires - disruptions in our lives that seem to be disastrous at time but end by redirecting our lives in a meaningful way.

Cancer is a life - threatening, life - challenging crisis that demands the utmost of our capacities for courage, self - knowledge, growth and change. Cancer can be a reminder of our life's meaning and purpose. It is a frightening adversary, that, with the grace of God and a lot of hard work on our part, I believe can become a friend bestowing. - Philip Incao, MD, Rethinking Cancer

I noticed that people with cancer seemed to have something in common: There had been some kind of psycho - emotional conflict, trauma or shock prior to the onset of their cancer, usually a few years before, a conflict that has never been fully resolved. All your thoughts and feelings get translated into chemicals that fire off throughout your body, altering the chemical composition and behaviour of your cells. If one part of your body mind connection is damaged another part of yourself will be effected. Cancer Personalities

In helping people make the journey through cancer, one of my priorities is to skilfully and gently help the individual address and resolve the feelings that must be dealt with. If this doesn't happen, whether their tumor shrinks or even goes into complete remission, genuine healing will not have occurred.

To put it in other words, there are certain psychological and practical life enhancing steps people with cancer can take to increase their self - healing and self - repair abilities. Whether or not this will help a person to fully recover from a life - threatening (or chronic) illness depends on the total situation, including the life experience a person had. When the total environment of a person’s life with cancer is mobilized for life, his or her inner being changes for the positive.

The individual has developed more self - knowledge and self - fulfillment, following his/her (unfulfilled) dreams and own path of life, rather following others. I have seen also so called miracle healing from cancer in people, who dedicated devotion and hard work towards their healing and have made cancer as a turnaround or turning point to their life, rather then a sign of its ending. This was certainly the case in my own life.

Ones you start to be active, eliminating blockages out of your life and do more things that make you feel enthusiastic, your immune system will thank you greatly and will function on higher level then before and will put your health on stronger footing. There are many different approaches and options everyone can use to support ones journey to health. It is obvious that a healthy and balanced diet has to be part of an individuals healing journey. Using the image of the body as a garden, diet and nutrition correspond to fertilization of the soil.

Working with people over the last thirty years has taught me a great deal about myself and other people, including how we can grow to accept our life circumstances and ourselves and to have the courage to stay with our pain. Acceptance gives us power and courage to stay steady and strong instead of shifting the blame for what we don’t like to others and losing the will to make our own choices.

Often we don't understand why things happen in our lives and we don't need to understand why if we consider what: What will I do now, or, how can I respond to this challenging scenario?

The first step you decide to take is the most important one.

Whether you believe it or not you are the one that writes the story of how your health will be in your lifetime. There is no perfect time to find the answers to deep questions. The right time is whenever and wherever we begin our journeys toward an authentic reconnection with our true selves.

Nature, on the other hand, gives us an array of tools to heal cancer and the underlying causes that lead to cancer. The key is not merely addressing the tumors and cancer cells that are the symptoms of cancer, but addressing and eliminating the root causes that led to cancer to begin with.

I would like to ask you to inquire and stay open to different healing and therapy methods before you dismiss them. By dismissing what could work, we dismiss what’s possible. It doesn’t matter if the healing method that you choose doesn’t work for everyone else, for example, while chemotherapy may be the right treatment for one person with a particular disease, for another with the same disease, it may be an inappropriate choice for different reasons. What matters is you: Your happiness, Your health, Your healing, Your well-being. You are the first and final authority on your life.

In the treatment of cancer, conventional medicine includes surgery, chemotherapy and radiation. I'm more mindful of a more holistic view in relation to the individual and their circumstances. Since practitioners of alternative medicine focus on the cause of the tumor, they believe that anything, which helps the body eliminate the tumor, is progress.

The ideal in my view would be to integrate mainstream treatments appropriately alongside supportive complementary and alternative medicine to support and restore the immune system, organ functions and vital life energies and to mitigate side - effects of i.e orthodox cancer treatments. The integration of whole body medicine into mainstream medicine would mean we can choose from the best of both worlds.

My aim is to help built individuals own resources for their healing on all levels which then strengthen them to improve their well being and optimizes the outcome for their recovery. This may involve other physical approaches , including a healthy, cancer healing diet, nutritional supplements, physical and emotional detoxification, change in life style, stress control, prevention, biofeedback, stress reduction, relaxation techniques, physical exercises, as well emotional, psychological and spiritual support. There may be other ways to facilitate the individuals recovery. I look out for this, make suggestion to guide the individual or refer  them to someone who can support the process of healing.

  What Is Best?

That depends on one's view regarding the nature of cancer and on where you are coming from! Each individual comes to this search on how to deal with cancer with his or her own preconceptions.

Making informed treatment decisions!

If you want to inform yourself about the different treatment options, whether orthodox or complementary medicine, you could look at well-researched reports from one of the internet sites ( cancer decisions) or to inform yourself by reading some of the excellent books that now exist on the market. These resources will also guide you to professionals who have experience in integrated cancer care. There are numerous books on cancer, I would like to recommend a few, based on evidence results.

Treatment decisions

Make Decisions Based on Knowledge and Understanding, Not on Fear!

You will have to inform yourself and decide on the therapeutic modalities you would like to pursue and also to be open to abandon any therapy if it doesn’t work for you. The most important part of the healing process is that you be comfortable, and even enthusiastic, about the therapeutic modalities you have chosen. There are so many factors in the curing and healing of a patient that are particular to that patient and not to the disease. And part of that has to do with the understanding of the difference between healing and curing. It is important for individuals with cancer and their caregivers to understand this distinction since the disease is more than just the presence of a tumor.

Conventional practitioners view cancer as the tumor, whereas complementary medicine doctors and therapists see the tumor as the symptom of the cancer. They are more interested in what caused it to appear in the first place.  Orthodox medicine by its very nature and focus on measurable outcomes, concentrates on the pathological changes in the body (size of tumor, tumor markers, and other tests). This focus often neglects the human being and the mental/emotional impact the cancer has on the each individual. We are more than just physical beings. In an age of orthodox medicine which desires to 'conquer' disease and death, we have lost our ability to deal with psychological and spiritual issues that arise as result of dis-ease.

Ultimately only you can decide which healing options you choose and in which way the quality of your life moves you to pursue greater health, healing and happiness. Informing yourself as much as possible is the key to choosing the right kind of therapy, or with other words, putting yourself in the hands of a person or clinic with a proven track record of effective treatments.

I believe that everyone has extraordinary powers that can be used to conquer what medicine claims to be unconquerable. Sometimes your pain has to be greater than the fear or reluctance to begin the journey. The decision to discover love and intimacy with yourself and God or being one with the universe is a yearning seed, sleeping within our souls, only waiting to be awakened. I learned that illness can be one of the greatest opportunity and gift we can receive. »» Illness as Opportunity

Illness can deliver us back to whom we truly are.

One can find magic in the most unexpected places. Our painful experiences can hold the key to our freedom if we are willing to change how we view our negative experiences.

Dr. Bernie Siegel: "To recognize the link between suffering and gift is probably one of the most important and also most difficult challenges we have to overcome, but it is also the motivation to carry out research about our true origin. Only then life becomes meaningful and therefore really gives us true satisfaction or/and deep happiness".

Cancer is Not a Synonym for Death and many People Survive Cancer to Live Full Lives.

In the mind, cancer becomes a fearful identity that takes on a life of its own; it absorbs our attention, saps our enthusiasm and takes over our normal thoughts and attitudes. Cancer starts off as a physical manifestation. Being told you have cancer is a shock to the core; it’s a mental blow that leaves you reeling in confusion, disbelief and denial that can last for months. You suddenly become a “cancer victim.” Your plans are no longer possible, a normal life is often denied and your future looks in the mind bleak and painful. If you are told that your condition is terminal, the shock is even worse. Most of us take our health for granted, and I was no exception - until the day I was diagnosed in  with cancer. It's amazing how a serious health problem can focus your mind on what's important in your life, and encourages you to listen to your own intuition to take a close look at what's working and what needs changing.

Healing Begins with Removing the Obstacles.

Very often, we are so busy just getting on with our lives that we have little time or inclination to think about the fundamental meaning of life. When we suddenly find ourselves faced with a serious illness, like cancer, the tragic loss of a loved one, great uncertainty or an impossible decision, our whole understanding of what life is all about is called into question. Faced with the impermanence of life and uncertainty of our life, we find ourselves having to reinvent our life.

Often when we become ill, we immediately want to know how to cure it, to get rid of it as quickly as possible: Take a pill; cut it out, get some treatments for whatever it is that we have. Less often we ask why we may have an illness. We may blame environment, smoking and diet; but do we ever look to our thoughts or repressed emotions or shocks and traumas in our lives as a link to a present illness?

If we can’t change the framework of our lives, how can we live out our years, getting the most from them? My answer to this is: By seeing our experiences as gateways to greater understanding and compassion. When we only remember the misery and the pain, we remain locked in yesterday. Learning to change your behaviors and actions that have been ingrained in you since birth can be very challenging. However, you need to realize that it can be done.

The Key is that You have to Want to Live a Healthy Life; You have to Want to Change

Discovering your inner wisdom and tuning in to yourself is not something you do a few times a year; it is a way of life.

Your body is a feedback system and I like to give you the opportunity to understand the messages your body sends you. In your hands, you hold the tools that will clear destructive patterns, beliefs and emotional baggage in order to discover the incredible being you really are.

Once you begin to feel the amazing benefits, expand your awareness, and experience the power of self-healing, you will never want to turn back. During times of transition, amid everyday stress, and even when we face seemingly insurmountable adversity, life offers us a choice: to turn away from change or to embrace it; to shut down or to be broken open and transformed.

Ultimately, you will move deeper into your true self, better able to find your inner compass and move more freely in the direction that is abundant and satisfying for you. Even if you can only do a little you will feel more love for the beautiful person you are right now.

I myself have experienced an incredible healing transformation and have worked with many people who have changed their lives from suppression, illness, like cancer, and dissatisfaction to openness, health, and the joy of intimately and profoundly knowing themselves. I have been an intimate witness to the ways in which human beings deal with change, loss, and difficulty.

A River Running Through You Its Called Your Life

The river of Life is calling you to jump in and flow with the new tide. You are now, as never before facing a time in which unexpected emotional moods and messages suddenly arise from the shadow realms of our consciousness. There is no time to harbour old stories. It is time to let go, shed the old skins, say goodbye to outworn forms of communication driven by separateness and fear. This is a time to re-appraise your original dream, honour and embrace your multi-contextual life and make peace with your personal history, your ancestry or lineage, and then move on into the new. Get ready to find yourself arriving in the unexpected, in this present moment, vulnerable and open-hearted, ready and willing to make just one simple step.

If you are wondering which direction to make that step, turn your gaze to the Cancer Lifeline Kit Cancer Lifeline Kit, and the Health Creation Programme, Health Creation Programme, offered here in Ireland from The Dynamic Turnaround, by professional and experienced Mentors.

The Health Creation Programme helps you to weaken the connections between troublesome situations and your habitual reactions to them, such as fear, depression and rage, self-defeating or self-damaging behaviour.

It teaches you how to calm your mind and body, so you can feel better, think more clearly and make better decisions. It teaches you how certain thinking patterns cause your symptoms – by giving you a distorted picture of what’s going on in your life and making you feel anxious, depressed or angry for no good reason, or provoking you to ill chosen actions.

Become an Empowered Patient, Learn All About Your Condition and Accept Nothing Passively.

Most people who benefit from this kind of support / therapy need to change something in their lives, whether it is the way they feel, they way they act, or how other people treat them. Working with the Health Creation Programme can help you to make sense of overwhelming problems by breaking them down into smaller parts. This makes it easier to see how they are connected and how they affect you. This programme is an excellent method of helping people come to terms with a diagnosis of a terminal illness and ultimately to turn the crisis around into a real opportunity to get his/hers life and health on a stronger footing then before.

Many patients with cancer, who have attended my practice, improved their health and have healed their life's using the guidelines and suggestions in this marvelous life-enhancing programme, developed by Dr. Rosy Daniel, with the support of a trained cancer mentor.

Be an Active Participant in Your Healing Journey through Cancer.

I would like to motivate you or anyone else with a serious illness or life diminishing illness to play an active role in your recovery to health. This in itself will stimulate your immune system. Don't take the role as a passive bystander, don't give your power away to physicians or therapists and wait and suffer. You don't have to sit and wait until the doctor has cured or failed you. Taking an active part in your healing and destiny changes how you feel about yourself and your situation. It puts you back into the drivers seat. Instead of being helpless in the hands of your illness you can embark on an adventure, without looking to the outcome of it. You may win, you may loose, the most important thing is that you DO something and influence what your life may will become. Being active will change the colour of your life.

When we open our hearts to recognize the fact that it's people we're treating rather than diseases, medicine will naturally evolve into a true art and science of whole person care.

My approach is a reflection of our capacity as complementary medical professionals to strive beyond the confines of traditional approaches to enable people to reach their maximum potential. This approach often referred to as psycho-oncology provides the necessary tools and framework for choosing to live rather than surrendering to tragedy.

I wish you the best on your journey through cancer or any other illnesses towards health. I hope that my notes will encourage you and provide you with the motivation and impetus to explore your own healing and spiritual path. Its purpose is not to give detailed medical information or advice but to inspire you to look at all different healing options for you available.

I offer you guidens to the dynamics of healing and growth, how we resist and how we surrender, how we stay stuck and how we grow, and how we can turn misfortune into insight, and grief into joy

"If you have only one hammer in your toolbox, you will see every nail as a problem."

I hope, that as you read the next pages, you will be compelled to heal your life according to your own unique vision of yourself.

If at anytime during your healing journey you need a mentor to support you, my service is available to you.

Part of my approach is to support each individual in the choice and decisions he or she makes, and no pressure is placed on anybody to pursue any particular form of style of treatment, orthodox and conventional. I'm offering in - depth councelling and mentoring for those who wish to receive unconditional support in their journey through cancer and back to health.
