Art for Fun - Paint and Play

 

    

 
Creativity is about allowing yourself to dream the impossible and having the tenacity to make it happen.

“Playing” with art, either actively or passively is fun and uplifting. As adults we often associate the word “play” with children or with sporty activities. Children get swept away when they play. They are totally engaged with what they are doing.  Try using it with art. It may help you expand your view of recreation. Whether you actively engage in art by creating pieces or passively by visiting museums or watching performances, the benefits are endless.


          


Learning something new at workshops or art classes is a more active interaction with art. When I was healing, I challenged myself to learn how to do something I had never done before. The process exposed me to new ideas and people, which I found very helpful to healing. Success came from patience and figuring out how to work with different mediums. Ironically, those were also key lessons I had to learn in my life and in my healing.

Give yourself permission to be creative  and to play with different mediums - to splash colours onto your paper or canvas and have fun! There is not such thing as failure or not being good enough!

Do You Need to be Talented?

Absolutely not. And you need not be “afraid” of expressing yourself through art. Though it may seem different and unnatural at first, it is typically because the individual is not used to communicating via the arts. The creative process can be one of the most rewarding aspects.

It can be used to relieve stress or tension, or it can be used as a mode of self-discovery and for healing when you are facing illness.

  • Sessions are facilitated to have a clear start, middle and end (closure) to enable each individual to smoothly transition in and out of the healing environment of creating art.
  • Gráinne serves as a guide of art making experience, while supporting individuals to verbally express meaning through their art process and final product.
  • The focus of each session is on generating and working through the creation of images, which come from one’s feelings, thoughts, ideas, and experiences.
  • Each individual makes their own interpretation of their work.

I'm not an art therapist, however, I integrate my professional experience as a therapist and artists into the Art for Fun sessions.

Expressing our deepest feelings can be remarkably healing on many levels. Sometimes, however, words cannot fully express what we are experiencing. As a result, some of the things we need to discover about ourselves remain hidden deeply within us.

Spontaneous painting comes from within us, revealing the unconscious and intuitive wisdom that we are born with but lose as we learn to think.

A workshop , which will bring you into a harmonious state of well - being through your creative self - expression! In this multi- dimensional workshop you will explore:


  • Meditation and exercises that integrates the mind and body into harmonious state of deep relaxation, clarity and enhancing your awareness to live in the present moment.
  • Dance- movement expression that taps into releasing any tension held within your mind and body, creating space for a vibrant state of well being to blossom.
  • Spontaneous painting that combines the sensuousness of liquid motion and color that lulls you into a mild trance. This state of being melts away emotional blocks to surrendering control and allows a more playful experience. This puts you in touch with your unique powerful imagery.
  • Have fun by exploring art in a supportive, comfortable, productive atmosphere!  Let your imagination run wild. The aim is to experiment, improve and enjoy creative expression without pressure!
